My mark controls the path in which the paint moves. The focus of the paintings are less on imagery and figure, but on the actual brushstroke and use of paint. To emphasize the picture as an object rather the picture as an image is my goal. Exploration of the paint intrigues me. What it is, where is comes from, what it is willing to do and how it moves motivates my investigation. We leave behind marks everyday by something as simple as a signature. The primal urge to leave behind a part of my existence is done through the marks of thick painted surfaces. As my work progresses, I will continue to engage in my own existence and how my mark will be carried on through the paintings I make.
